JENNY FARRIS almost dies twice the same day. The first is innocuous. The second will change her life.
Film professor, mother of two, and recently widowed, she’s plenty cognizant of the dangers of this world. But by the time she realizes something’s amiss, BILLY GWIN is behind her with a gun to her head. He takes her phone, her wallet, gets a look at her kids CAIT and MAX, and says disgusting things.
Jenny is helpless… until some old self-defense training kicks in! She fights back and gets the better of him and before she knows it, she has Gwin’s gun pointed at his head.
Jump to the aftermath…. Gwin - in police custody. It’s over. Except, it’s not. Someone video’d the assault and it goes viral. Jenny’s greeted as a hero by her kids’ friends, her students, and the keenly interested press. But she’s not feeling like one… especially when Gwin gets out on bail!
Now she must face the terrifying consequences of letting him live! And even if he doesn’t find her, the death threats will pour in all the same…
Worry gives way to paranoia. Everyone starts whispering “You should’ve killed him when you had the chance.” Jenny can’t stop imagining Gwin hurting her kids. And Gwin starts popping up everywhere. Then… the worst happens: GWIN STRIKES!
In the vein of dramatic, tense and compelling psychological thrillers like Jacob’s Ladder and Cape Fear, IN THE GRIP will take us on a journey into the lead character’s mind and emotions, as she wrestles with violent, agonizing and chaotic, internal and external forces.
